The Western Isles Cross Country 2006 took place on the 18th March 2006, two weeks later than scheduled beacuse of heavy snowfall that weekend. A total of 169 runners competed at the Lews
Castle grounds course in Stornoway. A sizeable North Uist AAC team made the trip up and their efforts were rewarded with 12 placing medals in all the age catergorys. This total was with a flu-hit team. The
bug had gone round the whole club in the weeks leading up to the race and indeed many runners could not compete due to illness. There was outstanding runs from North Uist runners in all catergorys and they showed
yet again their abilty to compete and in lots of cases beat their Stornoway counterparts. A very sucessful North Uist team made it home safely without any complications and a thanks is owed to all the adults that made
the trip up to Stornoway to help out and support our team. If the team performs as well in the future then bring on Harris 2007! |
