A very small team from NUAAC was sent for the club's maiden appearence at the Scottish National Age Group Track and Field on the 26th and 27th of August 2006. The team was made up of six under 17 male athletes and this event was their reward for a long, hard summer of solid training. They travelled in two seperate cars that went on two seperate paths to stay in two seperate places in the central belt of Scotland. Thanks to mostly mainland relatives the team were put up for the nights leading up to and during the championships. It was a steep learning curve for some, but overall it was a great experience. All but one of the team smashed their personal bests and some progressed to latter stages of their events showing that North Uist can compete and hold its own against the best in Scotland. A thanks to Iain 'Corky' MacCorquodale and Willie MacDonald for taking the team away and making the trip possible. |
